Utilizing Massage Tools to Enhance the Massage Experience

Massage therapy is one of the oldest therapy services available and involves manipulating the body’s soft tissues in order to foster physical comfort and emotional well being for the person receiving the massage. To this end, there are many different types of massage therapy tools that can aid a massage therapist in performing their job well. Massage tools are a great way for a masseur to do the best job possible while treating a client. Massage tools, also, can help you get a decidedly better massage if you choose to give yourself one, without anyone else helping you. Look for good tools to get the best results. There are tons of types of massage tools at your disposal, so this page will tell you how to find out what you need.

Types of Tools

There are about as many types of tools are there are styles of massage therapy. From the obvious massage chairs and tables, to the oils that the masseur uses, to the aids that help them to give a client the best massage possible, the tools of the trade are chosen for specific reasons and every therapist tends to favor certain tools that allow them to do their particular style of massage to the best of their ability. Back massage tools or tools that specifically target particular body parts, such as the feet, or neck, are often employed to aid in muscle relaxation. Acupressure tools help to create focused pressure points and enable deeper tissue massage. Stones are sometimes used, either hot, or cold. Hot stones soften and relax muscle tissue to allow the manipulation to stretch the fibers better. Cold stones are used to help with tissue decongestion. Belt massagers employ waves of vibration to stimulate, firm and strengthen the tissues to which they are applied. Body rollers offer deep muscle penetration and the mobility to glide along the fibers and help lengthen and loosen them to allow healing and greater motion. Percussion tools allow energy to be transmitted deep into muscle tissue. There are many tools that massage therapists employ to give their clients the most accurate pain relief and the most relaxing massage experience possible.

Employing Massage Tools

In the right hands, a good massage tool can be a magic wand to ease tension and relax muscles, aiding in the physical and the emotional health of a person. The body responds to the pressure or vibration of a massage tool by relaxing the muscles, softening and lengthening tissues and allowing fibers to separate to enable healing to take place deep within the tissue. For those knotted muscles that can occur in the back from poor posture, standing or sitting too long, or various other reasons, an acupressure tool or roller, applied firmly to the spot and stroked across the tense muscle can dissolve the tension and alleviate the pain. Heat and vibration from a belt massager can soften the tight tissue and stimulate blood flow to the area. A thumper device can pound waves of positive energy deep into the tissues and shock them apart to allow the tissues to rebuild in stronger, more flexible form and increase mobility and range of motion. Some tools are made to be used by another person, such as a masseur or a partner, and others are made to be used without assistance, such as massage cushions, chairs, and various handheld massaging tools that allow an individual to apply it themselves to the source of their discomfort.

Massage is a wonderful tool in itself to aid in relaxation, pain control and support the body and mind in a healthy manner, but sometimes massage can be greatly enhanced by the use of the right massage tools.
