A Memory Foam Mattress Topper is a medical idea.

Originally designed by medical professionals to help alleviate bedsores in bedridden patients, it is now available to the consumer. Designed for comfort, not support it works best when placed on an existing mattress. Which is why it may be the perfect solution for you.

Why is the Memory Foam Mattress Topper better than a Standard Foam Mattress Topper?

Memory foam is dramatically different. A standard foam topper will simply squish and surpress as the body places pressure on it. It then will always be trying to return to its original form. This creates a subtle pressure that works against your already fatiqued body.

Memory foam works differently. When it compresses from the bodies pressure, it redistributes its air cells. This means, the pressure is not squished down but moved to another location in the foam, totally alleviating the "return to original form" pressure, creating a literal "rest" position in the foam. No pressure on the body means a better sleep.

With So Many Memory foam mattress toppers on the market today, which brand is best?

When it comes to memory foam, thickness and density are more important than brand. Here are the 2 most important characteristics to determine a quality product.

Density (air cells per square inch), is determined by the actual physical weight of the mattress topper. The greater the density the greater the longer your will experience sleep comfort. Any topper weighing less than 10 to 20 pounds will not provide the best sleep comfort.

Thickness is the width of the topper. Too thick or thin and once again the mattress will not be of top comfort potential. Thickness can cause too much of a nesting effect and can impede comfortable sleep movements. Too thin and it won't be able to sufficiently create the body contours needed for a soft sleep. A width between 3" to 4" will work well.

One word of caution. If you have a mattress that dips in the middle, a memory foam mattress topper will not be strong enough to fix that roll to the center problem. Remember, it is not a support topper but a comfort topper.

A consistent good nights rest affects more than just your daily energy. Sleep deprivation has become a medical health hazard because it has been found to be linked to heart problem, increasing risks of cancer and obesity. Here is a sectional sofas guide that can show you how to sleep better, as well.

It's time to assure a good nights rest and a memory foam mattress topper may be all it takes.
